Color Hardener
|
|
|
|
SCP’s CHROME-HARD is a ready-to-use, streak free, dry shake color concrete hardener. It is formulated to be easily integrated into the surface of freshly poured concrete. CHROME-HARD is regularly used in stamped concrete to simulate the look of brick, stone slate, tile or cobbles. When used with SCP’s Powder Antique Color Release Agent and CHROME-SEAL 30% Solids Clear Sealer, a variety of architectural designs in concrete are achievable.
CHROME-HARD is available in 28 standard colors and packaged in 60 lb bags. Custom colors are available for a nominal upcharge.
Coverage Rate: 90 - 100 s.f. per 60 lb bag (9 - 10M2 per 27KG bag)
Advantages:
- Available in 28 colors from white to black.
- Allows the use of gray cement based concrete and still achieving pastel colors.
- Non-fading.
- Increases surface density by 25-50% over plain concrete.

CHROME-HARD is applied by the dry-shake method where the color hardener is broadcast over the surface of the concrete after initial floating. Normally, the concrete is screeded and then bull floated with a magnesium bull float to bring the up “cream” or mortar paste. Once the excess bleed water has dissipated, the CHROME-HARD should be evenly broadcast onto the concrete surface. The coverage rate should be at least 60lbs for every 90-100 s.f. Allow the first application to work into the concrete surface for 5-10 minutes before floating in with the magnesium bull float. After bull floating, a second application is applied then steel trowelled using a steel fresno or steel hand trowels.

After the CHROME-HARD has been successfully steel trowelled into the surface of the concrete and no gray concrete shows through the color hardener, SCP’s Color Antique Powder Release Agent is broadcast on the surface of the colored concrete. The Powder Release Agent keeps the urethane stamping tools from sticking to the wet concrete. It also imparts a secondary color to the grout joints and texture grooves of the stamp tool.

Just after the powder release agent is applied, the StampMaster Stamp Tools are placed on the still plastic concrete. Each tool is designed to create unique patterns and impressions in the concrete surface. The mats are imprinted to acheive the full depth of the texture of the stamp tool. The mats are then picked up and replaced as the stamping process continues.
